Surah Al-Maaida

Why do the rabbis and religious scholars not forbid them from saying what is sinful and devouring what is unlawful? How wretched is what they have been practicing.﴿63﴾

Translation

Why do the rabbis and religious scholars not forbid them from saying what is sinful and devouring what is unlawful? How wretched is what they have been practicing.

Simplified Tafsir

هلا ينهى هؤلاء الذين يسارعون في الإثم والعدوان أئمتُهم وعلماؤهم، عن قول الكذب والزور، وأكل أموال الناس بالباطل، لقد ساء صنيعهم حين تركوا النهي عن المنكر.
