Surah Al-Maaida
And recite to them the story of Adam's two sons, in truth, when they both offered a sacrifice [to Allah], and it was accepted from one of them but was not accepted from the other. Said [the latter], "I will surely kill you." Said [the former], "Indeed, Allah only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him].﴿27﴾
Translation

Simplified Tafsir
واقصص -أيها الرسول- على بني إسرائيل خَبَر ابنَيْ آدم قابيل وهابيل، وهو خبرٌ حقٌ: حين قَدَّم كلٌّ منهما قربانًا -وهو ما يُتَقرَّب به إلى الله تعالى - فتقبَّل الله قُربان هابيل؛ لأنه كان تقيًّا، ولم يتقبَّل قُربان قابيل؛ لأنه لم يكن تقيًّا، فحسد قابيلُ أخاه، وقال: لأقتلنَّك، فَردَّ هابيل: إنما يتقبل الله ممن يخشونه.
