Ayah 67

Surah Al-Baqara

And [recall] when Moses said to his people, "Indeed, Allah commands you to slaughter a cow." They said, "Do you take us in ridicule?" He said, "I seek refuge in Allah from being among the ignorant."﴿67﴾

Translation

And [recall] when Moses said to his people, "Indeed, Allah commands you to slaughter a cow." They said, "Do you take us in ridicule?" He said, "I seek refuge in Allah from being among the ignorant."

Simplified Tafsir

واذكروا يا بني إسرائيل جناية أسلافكم، وكثرة تعنتهم وجدالهم لموسى عليه الصلاة والسلام، حين قال لهم: إن الله يأمركم أن تذبحوا بقرة، فقالوا -مستكبرين-: أتجعلنا موضعًا للسخرية والاستخفاف؟ فردَّ عليهم موسى بقوله: أستجير بالله أن أكون من المستهزئين.
