Surah At-Tawba
May Allah pardon you, [O Muhammad]; why did you give them permission [to remain behind]? [You should not have] until it was evident to you who were truthful and you knew [who were] the liars.﴿43﴾
Translation
May Allah pardon you, [O Muhammad]; why did you give them permission [to remain behind]? [You should not have] until it was evident to you who were truthful and you knew [who were] the liars.
Simplified Tafsir
عفا الله عنك -أيها النبي- عمَّا وقع منك مِن تَرْك الأولى والأكمل، وهو إذنك للمنافقين في القعود عن الجهاد، لأي سبب أَذِنْتَ لهؤلاء بالتخلف عن الغزوة، حتى يظهر لك الذين صدقوا في اعتذارهم وتعلم الكاذبين منهم في ذلك؟
