Ayah 31

Surah Al-Anfaal

And when Our verses are recited to them, they say, "We have heard. If we willed, we could say [something] like this. This is not but legends of the former peoples."﴿31﴾

Translation

And when Our verses are recited to them, they say, "We have heard. If we willed, we could say [something] like this. This is not but legends of the former peoples."

Simplified Tafsir

وإذا تتلى على هؤلاء الذين كفروا بالله آيات القرآن العزيز قالوا جهلا منهم وعنادًا للحق: قد سمعنا هذا من قبل، لو نشاء لقلنا مثل هذا القرآن، ما هذا القرآن الذي تتلوه علينا -يا محمد- إلا أكاذيب الأولين.
