Surah Al-An'aam
And thus We have placed within every city the greatest of its criminals to conspire therein. But they conspire not except against themselves, and they perceive [it] not.﴿123﴾
Translation
And thus We have placed within every city the greatest of its criminals to conspire therein. But they conspire not except against themselves, and they perceive [it] not.
Simplified Tafsir
ومثل هذا الذي حصل مِن زعماء الكفار في "مكة" من الصدِّ عن دين الله تعالى، جعلنا في كل قرية مجرمين يتزعمهم أكابرهم؛ ليمكروا فيها بالصد عن دين الله، وما يكيدون إلا أنفسهم، وما يُحِسُّون بذلك.
