Surah Al-Maaida
[As for] the thief, the male and the female, amputate their hands in recompense for what they committed as a deterrent [punishment] from Allah. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.﴿38﴾
Translation
[As for] the thief, the male and the female, amputate their hands in recompense for what they committed as a deterrent [punishment] from Allah. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.
Simplified Tafsir
والسارق والسارقة فاقطعوا -يا ولاة الأمر- أيديهما بمقتضى الشرع، مجازاة لهما على أَخْذهما أموال الناس بغير حق، وعقوبةً يمنع الله بها غيرهما أن يصنع مثل صنيعهما. والله عزيز في ملكه، حكيم في أمره ونهيه.
