Surah Fussilat
And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance, so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn.﴿17﴾

And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance, so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn.
Simplified Tafsir
وأما ثمود قوم صالح فقد بينَّا لهم سبيل الحق وطريق الرشد، فاختاروا العمى على الهدى، فأهلكتهم صاعقة العذاب المهين؛ بسبب ما كانوا يقترفون من الآثام بكفرهم بالله وتكذيبهم رسله.
