How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape.﴿3﴾
Translation
How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape.
Simplified Tafsir
كثيرًا من الأمم أهلكناها قبل هؤلاء المشركين، فاستغاثوا حين جاءهم العذاب ونادوا بالتوبة، وليس الوقت وقت قَبول توبة، ولا وقت فرار وخلاص مما أصابهم.
