Surah Al-Kahf
And nothing has prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them and from asking forgiveness of their Lord except that there [must] befall them the [accustomed] precedent of the former peoples or that the punishment should come [directly] before them.﴿55﴾
Translation
And nothing has prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them and from asking forgiveness of their Lord except that there [must] befall them the [accustomed] precedent of the former peoples or that the punishment should come [directly] before them.
Simplified Tafsir
وما منع الناس من الإيمان -حين جاءهم الرسول محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم ومعه القرآن-، واستغفار ربهم طالبين عفوه عنهم، إلا تحدِّيهم للرسول، وطلبهم أن تصيبهم سنة الله في إهلاك السابقين عليهم، أو يصيبهم عذاب الله عِيانًا.
