Surah Al-Israa
And when We intend to destroy a city, We command its affluent but they defiantly disobey therein; so the word comes into effect upon it, and We destroy it with [complete] destruction.﴿16﴾
Translation
And when We intend to destroy a city, We command its affluent but they defiantly disobey therein; so the word comes into effect upon it, and We destroy it with [complete] destruction.
Simplified Tafsir
وإذا أردنا إهلاك أهل قرية لظلمهم أَمَرْنا مترفيهم بطاعة الله وتوحيده وتصديق رسله، وغيرهم تبع لهم، فعصَوا أمر ربهم وكذَّبوا رسله، فحقَّ عليهم القول بالعذاب الذي لا مردَّ له، فاستأصلناهم بالهلاك التام.
