Surah Yusuf
And We sent not before you [as messengers] except men to whom We revealed from among the people of cities. So have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? And the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allah; then will you not reason?﴿109﴾
Translation
And We sent not before you [as messengers] except men to whom We revealed from among the people of cities. So have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? And the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allah; then will you not reason?
Simplified Tafsir
وما أرسلنا من قبلك -أيها الرسول- للناس إلا رجالا منهم ننزل عليهم وحينا، وهم من أهل الحاضرة، فهم أقدر على فهم الدعوة والرسالة، يصدقهم المهتدون للحق، ويكذبهم الضالون عنه، أفلم يمشوا في الأرض، فيعاينوا كيف كان مآل المكذبين السابقين وما حلَّ بهم من الهلاك؟ ولَثواب الدار الآخرة أفضل من الدنيا وما فيها للذين آمنوا وخافوا ربهم. أفلا تتفكرون فتعتبروا؟
